The Four-Way Test

Is it the Truth?

Is it Fair to all Concerned?

Will it Build Goodwill and Better Friendships?

Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

                               August 24, 2006

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Dave Blake followed by the Invocation by Bennie Stromberg.

George Gurr attended the picnic for the exchange students at Sunland Clubhouse last Sunday. We are sharing an exchange student with the morning club.

Ron Farquhar reported on an e-mail message from one of our former exchange students living in New Zealand. Her name is Tenia Witheford (Shine) and she was here in 1984-85 and was hosted by five families including Mr. and Mrs. Andy Nesbet.

She sends her greetings and appreciation.

There was an announcement about several lost items at the Salmon Bake.

One raffle prize was not won by anyone at the Salmon Bake and so this item ($25 gift certificate from Thomas Lumber) was raffled off at the meeting and was won by George Gurr.

Fine Master Gary Terrell asked questions about Sequim trivia. One question,"when was the light turned on at the new Dungeness lighthouse in Sequim?"The answer, In 1857.

Alice Bebee won $10 from the Foundation drawing.

There will be a Health Fair at the Sequim High School on Sept. 16.

Volunteers are needed to operate the Rotary booth. Please contact Pat Zane at 683-4478 if you can help.

PRESENTATION

Elaine Caldwell and Lee Harwell were the speakers for the Olympic Theatre Arts. They are located in the old Methodist Church on Sequim Avenue. The building was built in 1929 and the building was changed to meet their goals. The organization is self-sustaining and self-supporting. It is financed by donations, pledges and a foundation. Although it is hard work, they find that it is a stimulating experience with lots of satisfaction as they give back to the community in the areas of entertainment, laughter and education .They want to preserve the past of Sequim. They believe in what they are doing and believe it is good for the town of Sequim. They have several productions scheduled for the next six months.

Respectfully Submitted,

Fred Bedford
